From Humble Beginnings to Culinary Success: Raima’s Story
Raima, a 29-year-old single mother from Arua City, has transformed her life through determination and culinary expertise.
Early Beginnings
In 2015, Raima received basic catering training from CEFORD at Maecora Youth Center. She then started a small restaurant in Terego district, laying the foundation for her future success.
Business Growth and Challenges
Raima’s tea-selling business at Yitia Trading Center in Ediofe thrived, but customers craved more. Recognizing her skill gap, she sought upskilling opportunities.

Upskilling and Transformation
Raima joined the WHH/WENIPS upskilling project and trained at Royal Crane Resort Hotel (March-June 2023). This training propelled her business to new heights:
- Relocated to Baby Coach Park, Drivers’ Corner
- Employed 3 ladies, paying each UGX 5,000daily
- Saves UGX 15,000 weekly at Oli VSLA
- Pays rent (UGX 35,000), nursery school fees (UGX 70,000), and household expenses
Current Success
Raima is now employed at Royal Crane Resort, earning UGX 150,000 monthly. Her hard work and
new found expertise have elevated her to a happier, more secure life
