Our mission is simple but powerful, to work with communities to improve livelihoods, conserve the environment, and promote human rights.

Founded in 1997 under the Government of Uganda and UNDP framework, WENIPS has grown into one of the most respected national NGOs in the region.
We focus on empowering vulnerable communities through initiatives in:

  • Livelihood improvement and financial inclusion
  • Youth skills development and employment creation
  • Agribusiness and value chain promotion
  • Environmental conservation and renewable energy
  • Human rights awareness and gender equality

With over 7,500 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), dozens of partner farmer cooperatives, and an extensive presence in all districts of West Nile, WENIPS is a true community-driven organization.

When you volunteer, you:

Whether you’re a student, recent graduate, or professional who wants to give back, your time and energy can help create a ripple effect that changes lives.

We welcome individuals from all walks of life who share our passion for people and progress.
You can volunteer with us if you are:

  1. At least 18 years old and available for short-term or long-term assignments.
  2. Committed and reliable, able to dedicate a few hours a week or join a full project cycle.
  3. Respectful and collaborative, with a strong sense of teamwork and community spirit.
  4. Willing to learn, adapt, and contribute your skills where they’re most needed.
  5. Interested or skilled in any of the following fields:
    • Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
    • Agribusiness and value chain development
    • Renewable energy and environmental conservation
    • Gender and human rights promotion
    • Youth and women empowerment
    • Project planning and monitoring
    • Communication, journalism, or documentation

Depending on your background and interests, you may be involved in:

Community Development Projects – Work directly with rural communities in livelihood and agribusiness programs.

Technology & Innovation Support – Assist with digital tools, data collection, social media, and ICT solutions that improve project delivery.

Environmental Education & Renewable Energy Promotion – Help raise awareness about sustainable energy use, distribute solar lanterns, and support climate action campaigns.

Training & Capacity Building – Support workshops, mentorship programs, and youth up-skilling initiatives in collaboration with private sector partners.

Research & Documentation – Collect stories, success cases, and data to showcase community transformation.

Communications & Outreach – Help spread our message through storytelling, photography, media engagement, and online campaigns.
