Youth Skills Development (upskilling) Project

In 2023, WENIPS provided skills upgrade to 210 beneficiary women and youth in the districts of Arua, Terego and Madi-Okollo. These women and youth were provided work-based learning, at private sector enterprises in different trades: Tailoring and Garment Cutting (166), Carpentry and Joinery (13), Catering and Hotel Management (16) and Building and Concrete Practice (15). Of these, 81.4% were females while 18.6% were men.

Promoting Rural Financial Inclusion in West Nile

During the year 2023, WENIPS continued to provide support to over 7,500 VSLAs in West Nile. These comprised of 1,521 VSLAs supported under the Project for Financial Inclusion in Rural Areas (PROFIRA 2.1) with funding from the Government of Uganda and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. With over 70% of the membership being women and 15% being youth, WENIPS is promoting financial inclusion by providing financial services including access to credits to finance agricultural activities and other income generating activities.

WENIPS continued to promote agribusiness and agricultural value chain in 2023. With 67 primary producer cooperatives and 13 area cooperative enterprises, WENIPS reached over 373 farmer groups in West Nile.
