From Struggle to Success: Ms. Rose Night’s Inspiring Journey
Ms. Rose Night, a 25-year-old single mother of three and person with a disability, has overcome
incredible odds to achieve financial independence and become a renowned tailor in Imvepi refugee
settlement.
A Humble Beginning
Rose’s journey began with basic tailoring skills training from an NGO. However, despite hiring a
machine, she struggled to attract customers and make ends meet.
Transformation through Upskilling
That changed when Rose received advanced training at God is There Tailoring Workshop under
WENIPS’ project, funded by Welthungerhilfe and Enabel. She acquired market-relevant skills,
enabling her to create high-quality:

- Nigerian wear
- Caribbean wear
- Jackets
- Jumpers
- Backpacks
- African-Congolese fusion wear
Skyrocketing Demand and Success
Rose’s newfound expertise sparked overwhelming demand. Her customer base expanded to include influential individuals, and she earned:
- Over UGX 50,000 per day
- Multiple orders during the 2023/2024 festive season, forcing her to enlist friends’ help
A Dream to Empower Others
Rose aspires to open a Tailoring Training Center, empowering fellow women and persons with disabilities. Her gratitude to WENIPS, Welthungerhilfe, and Enabel is palpable:
I never knew I could become this famous… Thank you for believing in me.
A Symbol of Resilience
Rose’s remarkable story serves as a testament to the power of upskilling and determination. Living
independently with her family in Village 9, Zone 2, Imvepi refugee settlement, Terego District, Rose
embodies hope and inspiration.
